Augray meets Ransom
Augray is the first sorn that Ransom has a conversation with. Ransom first meets Augray in chapter 15, when he stumbles into Augray's cave. At first, Ransom is frightened of the sorn, but later he gets used to Augray like every other sorn. Augray is a kind sorn, and lets Ransom stay in his cave. Augray also teaches Ransom some cosmology. In the morning Augray offers to carry Ransom to Meldilorn so that Ransom will not risk death on the harandra following the hross’s directions, but Ransom defends the hross's instructions, who did not try to send him into danger, but eventually lets Augray carry him, and Augray gives Ransom a oxygen tube and walks to Meldilorn, where they part. Augray is a medium sized sorn with a white feather covered body.
When Ransom meets Augray, he correctly deduces he is not from Malacandra (Mars) because he is so thickset. He says he must be from a planet with higher gravity, probably Thulcandra (Earth) but not Glundandra because its gravity is intense that anyone from there would be "flat like plates".
